Whilst many modern lead battery systems possess the standard plate construction, that is, negative flat plate electrodes and positive flat plate electrodes or as an armour plate, coiled grids are used as electrode carriers in Enersys Cyclon cells.
An enormous amount of stability can be achieved through the coiled shape, which allows the use of pure lead as grid material. These facts, as well as the thin grids characterise the Enersys pure lead batteries. Through additional optimisation of the electrochemical processes the Cyclon cells possess the following features:
Larger active surface area and therefore a smaller amount of internal resistance
Higher level of energy withdrawal
Better cyclic stability
Longer service life
Longer shelf life
Larger working temperature area
Very good charge acceptance after deep discharge or storage
